Vajpayee was an indian politician who served three terms as prime minister of india. He became a Lok sabha MP in 1952, at the age of 32. Vajpayee served as Lok Sabha MP for nine terms. He was the member of Rajya Sabha on two occasions. He emerged as a strong opposition voice during the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi.

Vajpayee was the first non-congress leader to complete a five-year term as India s prime minister. He formed Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP) in 1980. Vajpayee was the first president of BJP. Vajpayee was the first Indian to address the United Nations in Hindi.

On the eve of Atal Bihari Vajpayee s 94th birth anniversary, Prime minister Narendra Modi released Rs 100 coin in the honor of former prime minister.
