Veteran Actor Kadar Khan Died...

Mumbai, January 02: Veteran actor-writer Kader Khan died due to prolonged illness at the age of 81 on 31 December, his son Sarfaraz Khan confirmed Monday. Khan was admitted to a hospital in Canada and his son confirmed that his funeral ceremony will be held in Canada. Kader Khan was reportedly suffering from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a degenerative disease that causes loss of balance, difficulty in walking and dementia.


“My dad has left us. He passed away on 31 December at 6 pm as per Canadian time due to prolonged illness. He slipped into the coma in the afternoon. He was in the hospital for 16-17 weeks. The last rites will be performed here in Canada only. We have our entire family here and we live here so we are doing it,” Sarfaraz Khan told PTI.


On Friday (December 28), Khan s co-star of several films and veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to pray for the former s speedy recovery. Kader Khan and Amitabh Bachchan have worked together in films like Do Aur Do Paanch, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Mr. Natwarlal, Suhaag, Coolie and Shahenshah.
“We are thankful to everyone for their blessings and prayers,” said Sarfaraz Khan.


Kader Khan, who was born in Kabul, made his debut in acting with Daag, starring Rajesh Khanna in the lead role. After that film in 1973, Khan went on to work in over 300 films, spanning several decades. He had won several awards in his lifetime for films like Angaar, Baap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri, and Meri Awaz Suno. He was also recognized by the AFMI (American Federation of Muslims from India) for his achievement and service to the Muslim community in India.


Apart from acting in over 300 films, he had written dialogues for over 250 movies. Before he moved to act full time, he had written dialogues for Randhir Kapoor-Jaya Bachchan film Jawani Diwani.
