New Delhi, January 17: The union government announced 10% reservation to Economically Backward Classes (Ebcs), and got passed the bill by both upper and lower houses of parliament.
Now the government is all set to implement the EBC reservations in this academic year

In this academic year, the government is all set to implement EBC reservations. However, The Human Resources Minister Prakash Javedekar assured the people that the government would increase nearly 25% seats in 40000 governments and private colleges and 900 universities across India.

"The Ebc quota would be implemented from 2019-20 academic year. Nevertheless, around 25% seats will be increased in all the colleges so as not to disturb and damage the reservations to other sections," the minister said.

The exact number of seats to be increased in every college including IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs are yet to be announced by the government next week.
