Rafale Verdict: Parrikar tweets 'Satyamev Jayate'

New Delhi, December 14: Here is the latest news that, Ailing Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday tweeted "Satyamev Jayate" after a Supreme Court bench ruled there was no wrongdoing in the Rafale fighter jet purchase deal.

"Satyamev Jayate! #RafaleVerdict," the Chief Minister tweeted on his official twitter handler. Parrikar was the Defence Minister when Prime Minister Narendra Modi clinched the deal during an official visit to France.

On Friday,December 14, a three judge bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi gave a clean chit to the Rs 58,000-crore deal, ruling there was no wrongdoing in the purchase of the French aircrafts as alleged by the petitioners, while dismissing the clutch of petitions.

The judgment read out by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi has said that the need for the aircraft and its quality are not in doubt. That is, indeed, true. The aircraft is first-rate, and, yes, the Indian Air Force needs them badly. Further, it has said that issues relating to business decisions such as pricing and choice of offset partner, are not within its purview. But that is precisely where the rub lies.
