Bangalore, Nov 20: A 36-year-old police constable was arrested on Monday on the charge of raping a woman home guard.
According to the Nandini Layout police, Chandrashekhar, who is posted at the Jnanabharati police station, used to constantly harass and pass lewd comments at the woman, who was deputed for security duty on Bangalore University campus.
She then complained to the Inspector, who summoned Chandrashekhar and warned him. Enraged by this, the constable barged into her house on Saturday and allegedly raped her.
The police said that he even allegedly threw a bucket of water on her to “destroy” evidence, and fled the spot. The woman narrated the ordeal to her husband who came later in the night. The couple then filed a complaint.
Chandrashekhar has been charged with rape, criminal intimidation and tresspass, and remanded in judicial custody.
