7-yrs Jail for Dowry harassment

Although this happens, still dowry harassment kind of old systems are continued to suffer women in any way.A man murdered her wife for additional dowry.The II additional metropolitan sessions judge on Tuesday convicted a man responsible for dowry death of his wife.It was on December 29 in 2014 that Shabana Begum was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her in-laws residence in Kalapather. After finding strangulation marks on her neck, the victim s mother Afzal Begum filed a complaint with the police alleging that her son-in-law Syed Mahmood Ali aka Azam murdered Shabana Begum.The Kalapathar police registered a case under sections 302 (murder) and 304-B (dowry death) of the IPC. During the investigation, it was found that the accused strangulated his wife with a school belt. He then locked the house and fled. Police arrested Azam and sent him to judicial remand. The postmortem report also revealed the cause of death as strangulation.Charminar assistant commissioner of police K Ashok Chakravarthy, filed a charge sheet against the accused. The trial commenced at metropolitan sessions court. After listening to the arguments made by the public prosecutor and defense counsel, the court sentenced Syed Mahmood Ali to seven years of imprisonment.We are living in modern life and we are upgrading in all sectors but still, some people are harassing their wife s for Dowry though government implemented Gruhahimsa law.
