Upset over failing, students committed suicide

Apparently distressed over failing in the Intermediate examination, a student committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree at Gudurupalli in Punganur mandal of Chittoor district on Saturday.

The victim was identified as B. Bhanu Chandu, 17. He committed suicide early on Saturday following the declaration of results on Friday.

According to Trupati Rural sub-inspector P. Arun Kumar Reddy, Chandu had written the exam in the CEC group and was the student of a private college at Thatimakula Palem.

The locals who noticed Bhanu’s body hanging from a tree and informed his father B. Subramanyam. Police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to a government hospital for autopsy. A case has registered and further investigation is underway.

In another incident, a 16-year-old girl studying CEC first year at a private college in Tirumala attempted suicide after she failed in three subjects. She tried to kill herself by hanging from herself from the ceiling at her residence.

Her parents noticed her, immediately brought her down and took her to Aswini Hospital and later shifted her to a hospital in Tirupati, where her condition was said to be critical.
