High Court notices to TTD

Hyderabad, October 19: The High Court issued notices to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states and directed them to file their counter-affidavits within three weeks. Chilukuri Balaji temple priest MV Soundara Rajan filed a petition in the court alleging that the TTD has failed to deposit a part of its income towards the endowment fund to be distributed by both the Telugu states to small temples located in their respective states.According to the petition, the TTD has to give Rs 1500 crores to AP and Rs 1000 crores to Telangana.There are Yadadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, Bhadrachalam temple and two more temples in Telangana, while there are more temples in Seemandhra with a good revenue. Temples with good revenue should allot a part of its income to small temples with less income, towards priests? salaries and temple development. But the TTD hasn?t paid the dues from 1987 to 2014. The petitioner alleged that the TTD was paying only Rs 56 lakhs per annum to Chilukuru temple.The petitioner included endowment deputy commissioners, principal secretaries, TTD trust board also in the petition.
