Villagers boycott socio-economic survey in Amaravati

Vijayawada: Officials of Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) faced the ire of villagers of Venkatapalem in new capital region Amaravati when they were questioned to solve problems in the village which is under Grama Kantam. The villagers demanded the officials to answer them as to what projects are going to come up in the lands which were taken from them by the State government.Until the problems are solved, socio-economic survey being conducted by the officials should be stopped. Venkatapalem, one of the hamlets in the new capital, is said to be fiefdom of Telugu Desam Party. Now the State government is in piquant situation after the officials made a blank. The villagers alleged that there no transparency in draw of lots while allocating plots to the beneficiaries. Though, the villagers were promised of allocating housing plots in A-3 zone, it was not implemented, the villagers rued.Since the government had given Rs 4 crore per one acre to the Singapore company, the State government should pay the similar price to the farmers from which lands are being taken, they demanded.
