Police constable latest updates

Hyderabad, March 09: The appointments of Police Constable posts has been postponed, which was revealed by the High Court of Telangana state government on Wednesday.

The bench of Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akther made this observation while hearing a PIL filed by B Srinivas Goud, an unemployee of Rangareddy district, seeking to grant stay of all further proceedings pursuant to the notifications issued to fill 11,613 vacancies in various categories such as civil, armed reserve, special protect force and others.

The petitioner urged the court to issue directions calling for the records relating to conduct of selection for the posts and issue orders to the authorities to conduct it afresh.

The division bench expressed prima facie opinion that the ongoing selection process for the appointment of police constables undertaken by the Telangana state government was faulty.

The division bench made this observation while hearing a Public Interest Litigation petition filed by one Srinivas Goud alleging large-scale irregularities in police constables recruitment undertaken in Telangana.

The bench questioned as to how those who got less than cut-off marks of 80 were being accommodated in General Category as was shown in the case of a candidate who secured only 64 marks.

The special government pleader sought time to file a detailed explanation in this regard and assured that the appointments will not be finalized until then.

He said scrutiny of certificates itself would take around four weeks at the least and therefore sought time to come up with a detailed response.
