Teachers are turned into video editors for students

Hyderabad, February 23: Already we have learned about a famous quote,"The influence of a good teacher can never be Erased".The future of any student depends on the teacher only.

Now a days, Teachers are very good hard workers, who put the great efforts to teach every student. Now , they have turned into video editors after introducing the digital classes. The digitalization brought a great change in the educational system.

A group of government school teachers is making efforts to conquer hurdles in bringing audio-visual didactic methods into the classroom. They prepare their own video lessons for various subjects, edit the footage all by themselves, and share them with other teachers too.

The 40 teachers from various primary and upper primary schools of Warangal and Karimnagar districts were the master trainers in the pilot project spearheaded by the NGO ‘Save the Children’, in coordination with SCERT and District Institutes for Education and Training (DIET). After mere two to four days of training at respective DIETs in audio-visual tools, the teachers were left on their own to experiment.

At a workshop held here on Tuesday, they came with the lessons all prepared by themselves, with hardly any technical support from the State government. There were animation clips, video footage, downloads, pictorial explanations, all backed by voice-over by the teachers themselves!

"We used Windows Movie Maker to prepare our lessons. We would record our voice on phone, and use editing tools to add it wherever needed", said Ch. Arnitha, an upper primary school teacher from Pembarthi village of Hasanparthi Mandal, Warangal district, where the project began in 2016.

"In about 15 of the 20 schools in the mandal, teachers and headmasters volunteered with the computers. School management committees and individuals provided the same in the rest", said S. Ravinder, the Mandal Education Officer of Hasanparthi.

Now, the 40 teachers are part of a Whatsapp group, wherein they exchange the audio-visual lessons, and also feedback.

"Initially, we received expert guidance from SCERT besides training by NIIT volunteers. Later, we started preparing our own lessons", N. Rajender Reddy, a primary school teacher from Vannaram, Manakondur mandal of Karimnagar said.

"Grades and attendance of the children improved wherever the audio-visual lessons were used, he said.
