No business after 11pm : e-petty case system

Hyderabad, February 21: The Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad city has launched a new "e-Petty case" system application. Most of restaurants and bars are running at nights also. The government has announced new rules to the mongers. Restaurants and bars should close before at 12 am. e-petty case system application is use to book cases, who doing business at late nights.

Recent incident held in S.R.Nagar, two men had eve-teased a girl between 9.30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on New Year’s eve at Bapu Nagar, under the S.R. Nagar police station limits. They had caught and then booked under the recently initiated E-Petty cases, under which officials use a tablet to process and expedite the case instead of going through the usual paperwork.The case was heard by the 10th Special Metropolitan Magistrate, after which they were handed the three-day sentences.

"Thanks to the E-Petty case system, we can now identify repeat offenders as well. Once a person’s name is entered into the tab, his past antecedents, if any, will also show on the tablet," said S.R. Nagar PS Inspector Md. Waheeduddin.

Mr. Waheeduddin added that the E-Petty case initiative was launched in October last year, and since then 174 cases have been registered through it. “It is used to book cases along with evidence as well. Before this, there were chances that in petty cases impersonators would appear instead of the accused,” he said.

At the time of generating e-petty cases the police have captured the photo of respondents and also taking Video of the scene through evidence-based monitoring system to get convictions on the establishments and trouble mongers, he added.

B. Sumathi, Dy. Commissioner of Police, Secunderabad said that whenever the cases will be booked through e-petty case system the police will mention the previous cases/convictions in the e-petty case Charge sheet, who were involved in 2 or more cases and also taking steps to sending them to jail.

After introducing the e-petty case system total 610 cases have been booked against the establishments and trouble mongers etc., in the limits of North Zone, Secunderabad. In which, e-petty cases were booked repeatedly against 27 establishments and also identified 6 trouble mongers.

On this process here on Tuesday total 6 cases got the conviction in Chilkalguda and Tukarmagte Police Stations and total six members were sent to jail for 5 days, she further added.
