Parents appeal against Us president decisions

Hyderabad, February 13: Parents of Indian students in the US hailing from the State have appealed to the Indian Govt to intervene in proposed policy decisions of US President Donald Trump regarding H1-B visas.

Apprehending that their words may not secure jobs if the proposals go through, the parents united under the banner of Telangana NRI Parents Association.

They said they made representations to External Affairs Ministry and sought the intervention of both the State and Central governments to oppose the proposed change of annual cut-off salary criterion for issue of H1-B visas to work in the US. The cut-off was doubled from $ 60,000.

"Many of them studying in the US have done so after taking huge loans, keeping in mind the prospects of working there to repay their debt and earn a livelihood," said S. Krishnamachari, an office-bearer of the association.

"By increasing the cut-off it becomes difficult for many to find jobs."
