Man held with two kg gold

Hyderabad February 12: A man has been caught by the Air intelligence here in Shamshabad airport for smuggling illegal gold coins.

Going into details, The officials of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad recovered 2 Kg of gold bars from a passenger trying to smuggle the precious metal in the form of "body packing", on Sunday.The passenger had concealed eight gold bars weighing 800 grams in the LED lamps in his bag and 12 gold bars weighing 1,200 grams in his rectum.

Based on specific intelligence, the officers of Air Intelligence Unit apprehended the passenger who arrived at RGIA at around 1 AM from Singapore in a Tiger Airways flight (TR 2624). During the screening process, the officials found gold bars in his rectum and also in a set of LED lamps.

"The 20 gold bars, weighing a total of 2 kg is of foreign origin and are worth about Rs 59.1 lakh," said the officials of Air Intelligence Unit
