Rathasapthami festive begins in Tirumala

Thirumala February 03: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) one of the top most temples in worldwide is getting ready to celebrate Radhasaptami festival on Friday. Also known as Surya Jayanti, the festival is a mini brahmotsavam in which the idol is brought on seven `vahanams' throughout the day.

Ratha Sapthami is an auspicious festival celebrated by Hindus and it is dedicated to Lord Surya. It is during this time that Surya/Sun moves from the southeast to the northeast.

We worship Surya Bhagwan for better health and wellbeing. Ratha Saptami is symbolic of the change of season to spring and the start of the harvesting season.

In view of the expected rush, the TTD has canceled all VIP break darshan and arjita sevas.It is expected that nearly 2 lakh devotees will throng the temple for the festival.

A buffer stock of 6 lakh water sachets and 1.5 lakh packets of buttermilk have been readied for the event. TTD has also arranged for spiritual discourses by famous personalities like Chagati Koteswara Rao.
