Telangana Jagruthi founder-president appointed as CWP panel

Hyderabad December 29 : Nizamabad MP and TS Jagruthi founder-president Kalvakuntla Kavitha has been appointed as member of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) Steering Committee of the comman wealth Pariliamentory Assoasiation (CPA).

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumithra Mahajan,who is chairperson of the CPA,INDIA,has also selected Kavitha as a member of the steering Committee.

The nomination of Kavitha was communicated by CPA additional director S R Mishra. She will be a steering committee member for the next three years.

The CWP was started in 1989 to ensure gender equality and enhancement of representation of women in legislatures. There are seven members in the steering committee. Meenakshi Lekhi will be the ex-officio chairperson of the committee.

Kavitha is already a member of the Parliament Estimates Committee, the Standing Committee of Commerce, and the Rural Development Consultative Committe
