Hyderabad: Mosque turned into COVID 19 isolation center

Hyderabad: The premises of a mosque in the Rajendranagar have been converted into a full fledged Covid 19 isolation center. A building in the Masjid e Muhammadi located on the Rajendranagar main road, where the management runs a religious school, is now equipped with 40 oxygen beds. A team of doctors will manage the isolation center round the clock and there is also a pharmacy in place to cater to the needs of patients.

NV Hanmanthu Reddy, Director General, Rotary Club of Hyderabad Deccan, inaugurated the facility on Monday. The Helping Hands Foundation through Rotary Club of Hyderabad Deccan and Support for Educational and Economic Development (SEED), have jointly set up the facility which is expected to be operational for next six months at least.

In all, a 50 member staff will be available at the facility in three shifts, under the guidance of Dr P Shafi, MD, Internal Medicine, DM (Cardiology).

All first line medicines required for Covid treatment along with oxygen supplies if needed will be given to patients free of cost. A full time physiotherapist and a dietician will be part of the team and a special Covid diet prepared in a highly hygienic environment will be served to the patients to improve treatment outcomes, said Syed Mazhar Hussaini, Executive Director, SEED.
