Hyderabad received second oxygen Express Train with 60 tonnes of LMO from Angul

Indian Railways through its Oxygen Express trains delivered a total of 127 MT of oxygen for Telangana from various steel plants across the country in the last few weeks.

Hyderabad: Telangana received its second Oxygen Express of South Central Railway carrying 60.23 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) from Angul, Odisha on Tuesday.

In the last few weeks, the Indian Railways through its Oxygen Express trains delivered a total of 127 MT of oxygen for Telangana from various steel plants across the country.

Overall, the Indian Railways has delivered 1,585 MT of LMO in 103 tankers to States across the country. The SCR on Tuesday said that the 27 Oxygen Express trains have already completed their journey and six more Oxygen Express trains are on the run carrying about 463 tonnes of oxygen in 33 tankers, which will be transported to various States.

It is Indian Railways endeavor to deliver as much LMO as possible in the shortest time possible to the requesting State, the SCR press release added.

To ensure that the train reaches the destination at the fastest possible time, the Railways have created a green corridor route for uninterrupted and fast movement of these oxygen special trains.

Further, as LMO is a cryogenic cargo, transportation of the tankers by Railways was carried out taking into consideration limitations with regard to the maximum speed at which it can be carried, maximum acceleration, and deceleration. In addition, route mapping was done so as to ensure that the movement of tankers by railways is smooth with regard to curves, adequate height clearance along the route of ROBs, RUBs, FOBs, etc.

SCR General Manager Gajanan Mallya complimented the officials for focused action in running the Oxygen Express trains and prompt delivery of the LMO without any delay. He advised all the divisions to be attentive and proactive to meet the needs of running the Oxygen Express trains. The first Oxygen Express for Telangana with five tankers loaded with 124.26 tonnes of LMO had reached Hyderabad on Sunday.
