Padikkal and Kohli put on a splendid exhibition of batting against RR

Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli's record unbeaten 181-run opening stand for Royal Challengers Bangalore helped them cruise to a comfortable 10-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals, in Mumbai.

Devdutt Padikkal put on an impressive exhibition of batting to crack a 52-ball 101 while Virat Kohli ended up with 72, as the opening pair steered RCB home. Meanwhile, none of RR's bowlers could make an impact. The foundation stone of RCB's thumping win was laid by the bowlers, with Mohammad Siraj and Kyle Jamieson picking up wickets upfront. Harshal Patel also bagged a three-for.

Struggle at the top. RR's powerplay struggles have haunted them since last season. In IPL 2020, RR never batted out a Powerplay without losing a wicket. It's a trend that's carried on to this season as well, despite a new opening pair.

It was exactly two years ago when Mohammed Siraj was not just trolled in this day and age of keyboard critics, but the passionate RCB fans were calling for him to be left out of the side. Two years since, Siraj is a different bowler. Now the same fans describe him as an asset, and his turnaround, astonishing.
