CM K Chandrashekhar Rao announced financial aid for teachers and other staff working in private educational institutions.

In a rare gesture of a State government coming to the rescue of teachers and other staff working in private educational institutions in these Covid times, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday announced financial aid of Rs 2,000 and 25 kg rice to them every month till the institutions reopen.

He said the decision was taken on humanitarian grounds to benefit 1.45 lakh teachers and other staff working in recognized educational institutions. The rice will be supplied through ration shops. To avail the financial relief and rice, the eligible should submit their bank account and other details to the District Collector concerned.

The Chief Minister asked Finance Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao to prepare necessary guidelines in coordination with officials of the Education Department in this regard.

He instructed Education Minister Sabita Indra Reddy, Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar and Government's Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma to hold a video conference with officials at 11.30 am on Friday at BRK Bhavan to work out the modalities.

All Collectors, DEOs and Civil Supplies Department DSOs will participate in the conference. All the modalities and orders for implementation of the required guidelines and action plan will be issued accordingly.

Decision lauded
The Chief Minister's decision to provide assistance to the staff in view of the temporary closure of schools has been welcomed by the teaching community.

Y Shekhar Rao, president of Telangana Recognised School Managements Association (TRSMA), said, "Around 2.20 lakh teachers and other employees of private schools have been in a very bad state financially over the last one year. Even buying groceries has become difficult for many of them and this initiative will aid them to an extent."
