New Quarantine rules for International travellers

International travel isn't as flexible or as easy as it used to be anymore. With coronavirus affecting the entire world at a devastating scale, precautions and safety mesaures have become a necessary part of International and any other travel, for now at least.

Previously, anyone coming to India from abroad had to be quarantined for 14 days, to make sure that the person has not contracted coronavirus. Now, the institutional quarantine period has been reduced to 7 days, after which they would be required to home quarantine for another 7 days.

Moreover, passengers can seek exemption on grounds of "compelling reasons", which include pregnancy, death in the family, and serious illness. Passengers will have to apply to the www.newdelhiairport.in to seek relief at least 72 hours before boarding the flight, and the decision of permitting, or not permitting the exemption will be made online.

Furthermore, those who do not belong to the above category can be exempted by submitting a negative RT-PCR test report on arrival". The test should be conducted within 96 hours of undertaking the journey. Such passengers will have to undergo home quarantine for the total duration of 14 days.

These measures will come into effect from August 8th.
