Lockdown extended in Mumbai and Pune

The state of Maharashtra is the most affected by Coronavirus in India. It contributes to a significant number of patients, with the number only growing by the day.

As many as 998 new cases have been registered in Mumbai itself, in the last 24 hrs. This took the total number of cases in the state to 16,579. Also, 25 people died in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll beyond the mark of 600.

Pune remains to be another major hotspot of the state, along with Mumbai. In this light, the government of Maharashtra has officially extended the lockdown in the state, especially in Mumbai, Pune, and other hotspots till May 31st.

The state is also increasing the number of beds to admit Coronavirus patients and has tied up with private hospitals as well. Experts say that 20,000 or more people will need to be hospitalized in the next week.

The state of Telangana was the first state in the country to extend their lockdown all over the state, till May 29th. It is now to be seen which other states will extend their lockdown as well.
