Jagan decides to close liquor outlets in AP

The government of Andhra Pradesh had reopened liquor outlets across the state on May 4th, after the lockdown regulations were relaxed by the central government.

However, the latest reports suggest that the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan has decided to shut down liquor outlets till further notice.

Apparently, Jagan is opining that the massive crowd accumulation at liquor outlets is defeating the purpose of the lockdown and that is the reason why he decided to shut down liquor outlets. As per the latest update, liquor outlets will be closed from tomorrow, May 7th till further notice.

Incidentally, liquor sales in Andhra Pradesh were on an unprecedented level. While Rs 68 crores were made through liquor sales on May 4th, the sales touched Rs 40 crores mark yesterday, May 5th.

It needs to be noted that the government of Andhra Pradesh is working towards complete liquor ban in the state. That could be another reason why Jagan decided to shut liquor outlets with immediate effect.
