India bought rapid test kits from China at inflated prices

A few days ago, India had ordered over 6 Lakh rapid test kits to ramp up the testing of Coronavirus in India. When the kits were put to use, it was found out that most of the kits were faulty and that they did not give accurate results. The government then asked the states to not use them for a few days until a solution is found.

According to the latest reports, the government of India bought these rapid test kits at an inflated price from China. The distributor in India had increased the price of each kit from Rs. 245 to Rs. 600.

This has been found out by the government, and the case has gone to court where the distributor is being questioned for the unexplained inflation in price.

It is infuriating to see that people are trying to cash in on a crisis like this where humanity is the need of the hour.
