170 hotspots identified in India

India is currently witnessing a rapid increase in the number of Coronavirus cases in the country. The total number of cases that have been reported in India so far have crossed 12,000, and the death toll is 414.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said in his nationwide address on Tuesday, a few businesses and a few areas are gearing up to re-open on a small scale from April 20, in those areas where the impact of the virus is less.

The government has now identified over 170 hotspots in the country, as part of this plan, and might increase the restrictions in these areas. All the major metropolitan cities of India are included in this list. These cities include Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Jaipur and Agra.

All the nine districts of Delhi are included in the list, along with nine districts of Bengaluru urban.

The nationwide lockdown in India has been extended up to May 3rd, after which there will be a phase wise relaxation of the lockdown across the country.
