AP Govt sops for Low Budget Films

Vijayawada, Aug 22: Andhra Pradesh government has come forward to promote low budget films in a big way. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced his government will reimburse the state's share of GST collections on the sale of tickets to the producers of low-budget Telugu films.

The decision was taken to protect the small film producers from financial burden and also produce more number of movies. It is also decided to give free of cost the locations for shooting.

The benefits will be extended to the film producers whose film's total production cost is not exceed Rs 4 crore . The main condition to avail the benefit is the entire film should be shot in Andhra Pradesh only.

Rs 10 lakhs subsidy and reimbursement of GST (state’s share) will be offered for 15 small budget films per annum.

The Government also imposed some rules for these films as they should be shot in Andhra Pradesh. Even the post-production work has to be done in the state and the production house should have its office in the state.

The production house should also get its name registered with APSFTVTDC after paying the prescribed fee. The complete investment on the film should be revealed except the remunerations paid to the actors and the technicians. The committee should also certify the movie as a Good Film after which the film gets eligible for the reimbursement.
