CM KCR enroute to chennai to pay tribute to Karunanidhi

Hyderabad, Aug 08: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has expressing condolences over the death of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader M Karunanidhi, who had passed away on Tuesday after 11 days in the hospital.

KCR announced that he will pay tribute to the late leader personally by visiting Chennai on Wednesday.

Describing the late stalwart as a 'mass leader', the CM said, "He was an undaunted political fighter, the mass leader who struggled for socio-economic development of marginalized sections of society in Tamil Nadu. In his death, India has lost a political stalwart and it will be difficult to fill the void caused by his sad demise."

Minister of Irrigation, T Harish Rao also expressed his condolences. The minister wrote on Twitter, "Deeply saddened by the demise of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Kalaignar Karunanidhi. May his soul rest in peace."

94-year-old Karunanidhi, addressed as Kalaignar (artiste) passed away on Tuesday at Kauvery Hospital. He was declared dead at 6.10 pm by the doctors and the announcement was made at 6.40 pm.

A health bulletin released at 4.30 pm by Kauvery hospital on Tuesday stated that the veteran leader's health condition was 'extremely critical' and 'unstable'.

"Despite maximum medical support, his vital organ functions continue to deteriorate. His condition is extremely critical and unstable," the bulletin read.
