High rates in multiplexes, no problem inform us through this number

Hyderabad, June 04: The Telangana legal Metrology department officials who have filed more than 100 cases against various malls over the last two days have been warned that multiplexes will no longer sell a single rupee beyond MRP over cool drinks and other beverages in Hyderabad.

As per instructions of Legal Metrology Controller, Akun Sabharwal, a total of 15 multiplex theatres were raided by one team each. Including MRP violation and weighing machine seal tampering, a total of 105 cases were booked against the shops.

The raids were carried out against stores operating in Prasads Imax, Inox Maheshwari, GVK One Inox, PVR Hyderabad Central, PVR Inorbit, PVR Forum Mall, Cinepolis Manjeera Mall, PVR Icon, Leonia Carnival, Asian Radhika, PVR Next Galleria Mall, Asian GPR and Carnivals Cinemas.

The highest number of cases was booked at PVR multiplexes, with 14 cases registered against stores in PVR Next Galleria Mall at Panjagutta, and 13 cases slapped against stores in PVR Icon at Hitec City. One case was registered at Leonia Carnival, Shamirpet.

The raids come in the wake of similar surprise checks at city malls in the second week of May, when goods worth Rs 72 lakh were seized by the department for MRP and other violations, and a total of 102 cases were booked.
