Hyderabad Metro first in India to provide these

Hyderabad, May 19: Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) will become the first metro in the country to provide Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations.

HMR keen to a step forward to create amazing achievements. As part of to provide eco-friendly green services, L and T Metro Rail(Hyderabad) Limited has entered into an agreement with the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) to facilitate the provision of EV charging stations at Metro stations, HMR said in a release here on Sunday.

To begin with, Power Grid will provide EV charging stations at Miyapur and Balanagar Metro Stations in the city.

Subsequently, it will provide similar EV charging stations across the entire Metro corridors.

"We are committed to provide the best eco-friendly Metro service to the citizens of Hyderabad and this is a step in that direction," HMR Managing Director and CEO KVB Reddy said.

The running cost is also considerably low compared to the vehicles run on fossil fuels. As India is aiming at high renewable energy penetration, channelising this energy to EV, the net CO2 generation can be brought down to almost zero, Mr Reddy said.

To cater to the needs of currently available vehicle types, Power Grid will deploy Bharat Charger DC-001. As market evolves, Power Grid would deploy compatible chargers by meeting International standards for all type of electric vehicles.

It is also developing an app, which will help the consumers to locate and share the status of availability of the charging station and facilitate online payment towards EV charging for seamless operation with least waiting time.

These EV charging stations will be monitored and operated remotely by Power Grid, the release added.
