TDP leader attempted to rape a minor girl

East Godavari, May 04: In a one more woman assault case, A TDP leader and his followers allegedly attempted to rape a girl on Wednesday in East Godavari district.

According to locals, Kathipudi MPTC leader Sandhya's husband was traveling to Thondangi from Kathipudi with his fellow leaders. They halted at a tea stall at Tumayyapeta village around 12 am, which is being run by a woman and her two daughters.

When the leaders demanded tea for all the party leaders, the woman refused to serve them and asked them to leave the place. Enraged over her move, Srinivas and other three men reportedly caught hold of the woman's elder daughter and dragged her into a nearby yard.

On hearing the screams of the woman and her younger daughter, the locals rescued the girl. After the villagers intervened in the issue, the leaders picked up an argument allegedly claiming, "we'll do as we please; it is our government."

As the villagers threatened to beat them, the TDP leaders left the place. On the complaint of the woman, the Thondangi SI Jaganmohan Rao booked a case against Srinivas, Sravan, Ravi and Satya Narayana.
