Special Tribute to Dasari Narayana Rao

Hyderabad, April 30: Dasari Narayana Rao's birthday has been declared as Director's day by Telugu film Directors Association. The legendary director passed away last year and his Jayanthi on May 4 has been suitably honored.

" We are grateful to his stellar contribution on the art of cinema and craft of filmmaking. An event will be held at film Nagar cultural center on his Jayanthi." the association says in a statement.

In this regard, Telugu cine industry stalwarts have welcomed the decision. Dasari Made it to the Guinness book of world records because of the sheer number of films he made.

Dasari Narayana Rao was born in West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh on May 4, 1942. He began his career as a theatre artiste and then went on to work in films. He made his debut as a director with the Telugu movie Thatha Manavadu in 1972.

This film starring SV Ranga Rao, Potti Veeraiah and Anjali Devi was hit at the box office and it also earned him AP State's prestigious Nandi award for his work.
