Telangana to spend Rs 5,480 crore on Rythu Bandhu Scheme

Hyderabad, Apr 11: The Telangana government will spend Rs 5,480 crore to implement the farmers' investment incentive scheme Rythu Bandhu this season. This was finalized by the finance department after data of 54.4 lakh farmers was handed over to banks by agriculture department officials.

The massive data is being examined by banks and agriculture extension officers, who will finally hand over the cheques to farmers by April-end.

Notwithstanding the delay in printing of land ownership passbooks and cheques by private agencies, the agriculture department has completed scrutiny of data relating to 9,919 villages. The government is planning to conduct the cheque distribution programme like a festival.

"We submitted farmers' data in three phases to banks and the remaining data relating to 1,000 villages will be presented in a day or two. After the cheques are printed, state-level officials will examine them before the distribution begins. They will take up this programme on April 12-14 at the designated banks," principal secretary, agriculture, C Parthasarathi told media.
