Janasena, CPI to launch Padayatra on Apr 6

Vijayawada, Apr 05: Jana Sena and Left Parties CPI(M), CPI will take out a padayatra on National Highways on April 6 as part of their series of agitations demanding Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a joint press conference along with CPI(M) State Secretary P Madhu and CPI State Secretary R Rama Krishna here on Wednesday, actor-turned-politician and Jana Sena Party founder Pawan Kalyan said that the Left and Jana Sena party leaders would stage padayatras on National Highways across the state in protest against the betrayal of BJP-led NDA government over providing SCS to the state. Mr Pawan said that he would also participate in the padayatra program.

The leaders would start their padayatra on NHs in the morning at various places in the state. Wherever there are no NHs, the leaders would organize padayatra on main roads and junctions, he said, adding that the leaders and activists of various organizations, which are supporting the SCS demand, would also participate in the padayatra.

Mr.Kalyan opined that if Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had undertaken his Delhi tour a few months back, it would have yielded results.

The Jana Sena founder, who is the younger brother of former Union Minister K Chiranjeevi, said that meetings with intellectuals would be organized in Anantapur, Vizianagaram and Ongole soon.

He slammed that the ruling Telugu Desam and Opposition YSRCP are criticizing each other instead of mounting pressure on the Centre on the SCS issue.

CPI State Secretary Rama Krishna reminded that it was Pawan Kalyan, who initially demanded the TDP and YSRCP to move a No-Confidence Motion against the Centre.
