Police officers arrested for gold robbery

Mumbai, Mar 29: Here is breaking news that Four people, including two Delhi police personnel, were arrested on Thursday for allegedly looting 8.9 kg gold from employees of a Mumbai-based gold company in Ghaziabad earlier this month.

Additional Director General of Uttar Pradesh Police, Prashant Kumar, praised his colleagues for solving the March 18 robbery when criminals in police uniform looted the gold outside the Sahibabad railway station here.

He identified the arrested police officers as Assistant Sub-Inspectors Satendra Singh and Brahm Pal of Delhi Police. The looted jewellery was worth Rs 3 crore.

The four victims were returning from Meerut after a business trip.

The miscreants also thrashed the employees of the company, the Union Chains and Jewellers Pvt Ltd, and threatened to kill them in "encounter."

The employees later lodged an FIR over the incident. Several police teams, including a team from the crime branch, were roped in to crack the case.
