Why Jammu and Kashmir provides security to separatist

New Delhi, March 27: Jammu and Kashmir government provides security cover to separatists in the state and the Central government has nothing to do with it, Parliament was told on Tuesday.

"As reported by the government of Jammu and Kashmir, it provides security cover (to separatists) based on security categorization as decided by the State Security Review Coordination Committee (SSRCC)," Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir told the Lok Sabha in a written reply in response to an question of Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajendra Agrawal.

"Security categorization is reviewed periodically by the SSRCC," he said, stressing that the Central government has nothing to do with it as it is a state subject.
