YSRCP MPs decided to resign from Lok Sabha

Vijayawada, Mar 27: The Andhra Pradesh Opposition leader and YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday said his party MPs would resign on the last day of the Budget session of the Lok Sabha.

Earlier, he said they would resign on April 6, last day of the Budget session. The decision to fast-track the resignations is seen as a decisive step by the party in the battle of one-upmanship over the Special Category Status (SCS), which had now emerged as a major issue before the State goes for elections in a year.

"Our party MPs would resign on the last day of the session but in case Parliament is adjourned sine die, they would resign on the day of adjournment. They would resign in the specific Speaker format and would join the massive agitation demanding SCS. We would request the TDP to join our struggle and if 25 MPs resign, our demand would be discussed across the country. Even if the TDP does not pull out its MPs, we will go ahead," Mr. Jagan told MPs at an emergency meeting called in the midst of the Praja Sankalpa Yatra at Muppala village in Sattenapalli mandal.

Mr. Jagan said the party was ready to work with any party supporting the demand for the SCS and told the MPs that all decisions beginning with the announcement of the resignations to tabling the no-confidence motion had been taken with a clear conscience.
