Loksabha Passes 2 crucial bills

New Delhi Mar 15: The Loksabha on Thursday has passed two crucial bills. The Lower house has passed Specific Relief (Amendment) Bill, 2018 and the Payment of Gratuity (Amendment ) Bill 2018

Specific relief bill: The Bill has been introduced to ease of doing business in the country. The Bill aims to grant a party the right to seek damages from the other side in case of a breach of a business contract and to reduce the discretion of courts in such matters.

Sources said that "the Act is a remedy which aims at the exact fulfillment of an obligation or specific performance of the contract rather than the grant of a general relief or damages or compensation."

The bill was passed amid the protests and the amendments moved by opposition parties were negatived.

The Parliament has also passed the Payment of Gratuity bill which ensures that provide tax-free gratuity of Rs 20 lakh to the organized sector workers.
