2% extra DA approved for central govt employees by Union Cabinet

New Delhi, March 07: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved an additional two percent Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners from January 1, 2018.

An official release said it will benefit about 48.41 lakh central government employees and 61.17 lakh pensioners.

"The Union Cabinet has given its approval to release an additional installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to central government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners w.e.f. 01.01.2018, representing an increase of two percent over the existing rate of five percent of the basic pay/ pension to compensate for price rise," the release said.
