76 yrs old man arrested for raping minor girl

Hyderabad, March 02: Here is a brutal incident has unveiled while a 76-year-old man, who repeatedly raped and impregnated a 13-year-old girl, his neighbor, at Aghapura in Habeebnagar police limits here, was arrested by the police on Thursday.

The accused allegedly lured her to his room offering sweets, chocolates and ice creams and repeatedly raped her over the past few months, said P. Madhukar Swamy, Inspector, Habeebnagar.

The accused, Abdul Wahab, is a resident of Sultan Nawaz Jung in Aghapura and the victim, who was studying in class VIII, is seven months pregnant.

The matter came to light when the parents of the girl lodged a complaint with the police. The girl's father works at a private company in Dubai and she stays with her mother, who is differently-abled, police said.

"For the past few months she complained of pain in the stomach. Her mother took her to several hospitals, where doctors prescribed tablets for stomach ache," Mr. Swamy said, adding that the victim did not attend school for the past four months. When the pain persisted, her mother decided to take her to another hospital and doctors revealed that the girl was seven months pregnant, he said. "Her father rushed from Dubai when he learnt about the matter and lodged a complaint," police said.

According to police, initially, the girl was too scared to reveal anything, but soon broke down and said the accused repeatedly raped her.

Based on the complaint, a case of rape under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered against Wahab.
