Cabinet Approves Anti Trafficking Law

New Delhi Feb 28: The Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken crucial decisions today. The Union cabinet has approved

Anti Trafficking Law: The law was prepared by the ministry of women and Children development. The bill was prepared after consultations with Police Agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders involved.

The Main aim of the bill is to address and prevent
child prostitution, child labor, removal of organs, using children in wars, Internal insurgencies, illegal adoption, any forms of slavery, selling women for marriage, drug peddling, smuggling, sex tourism, smuggling of migrants, beggary

Minister Menaka has said that "there are 3 lakh children missing and out of them 1 lakh are untraceable. The main features of the bill are

# Protection of victims after rescue from trafficking
#expand the purview of brothel word
#new forms of aggravated trafficking
#stringent punishment of 7-10 years.
# non-disclosure of identity
# Time Bound trial
# Immediate rehabilitation of victims
# Rehabilitation of victims not based on criminal procedure
# Monetary compensation to victims

The Law is based on United Nations and judgments of Supreme Court and special courts would be set up for the cases and Anti Trafficking Bureau would be the nodal agency.
