Telangana Govt to introduce separate budget for Agriculture

Hyderabad, Feb 19: The Telangana government has decided to introduce a separate budget for Agriculture from this year to implement many more programmes for the interest of the farming community.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao who held a review meeting on Agriculture at Pragati Bhavan on Sunday, said that farmers are facing an agriculture labour crisis, which would be further deeper in future.

Keeping this situation in mind, it is decided to encourage mechanisation of agriculture operations.

The CM has decided to supply rice-planting machines on subsidy to the farmers and asked the officials prepare an action plan.

He said in Telangana state programmes, schemes and measures for the welfare and development of agriculture, which are non-existent in any other states in the country.

Since, it is decided to implement many more programmes, a separate Agriculture Budget will be prepared from this year onwards.

The CM also wanted the officers to prepare a blue print for this also.

Mr Rao said that the financial assistance given under the investment support scheme for agriculture would be given in the form of Cheque in two installments.

He wanted Rs 4,000 assistance per acre for the crops for rainy season should be handed over from April 20 and the second installment of Rs 4000 per acre from November 18 for the summer crop.

Funds for this scheme will be provided in the Budget, the CM added.
