Lakdikapul rail over bridge (RoB) Metro works completed

Hyderabad, Feb 12: The L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited completed works on the Lakdi-ka-pul RoB, clearing technical, geographical and space constraints, and bridging the only remaining gap of Corridor I between Ameerpet and LB Nagar.

This will now facilitate in carrying out further track laying, electrification and signaling work between Khairatabad and Lakdi-ka-pul Metro stations for commissioning Metro train operations on the 16-km stretch between Ameerpet and LB Nagar of Corridor 1.

The 392-ft-long Lakdi-ka-pul rail over bridge (RoB) was completed using specially fabricated 'Bridge Builder', similar to what was done for the Begumpet Metro RoB, said Hyderabad Metro Rail Managing Director NVS Reddy, after inspecting the works on Sunday.

The 'Bridge Builder' load testing was done initially in the Uppal casting yard before bringing it to the site at Lakdi-ka-pul. The entire bridge was divided into three parts with the main portion (span) over the railway lines being 171 ft and both ends being 118 ft and 103 ft respectively.
