South Central Railway bags a New Record in LED Lighting

Hyderabad, Feb 09: The South Central Railway (SCR) set a new record in Indian Railways, on Thursday, after it was certified as the only zone to achieve 100 percent LED electrification.

The SCR has 733 railway stations in its jurisdiction and all of them now sport LED lights. It is the only zone in the country to implement energy saving measures announced by the Central government through LED lighting.

Earlier, the Kachiguda railway station of SCR became the first station in the country to go completely cashless following the government's decision to encourage online transactions.

Interestingly, the LED lighting at the SCR railway stations was achieved in a phased manner beginning with Guntakal, Nampally, Guntur, Vijayawada, Secunderabad, and Nanded.
