Swamy withdraws Cow protection bill after govt assurance

New Delhi Feb 3: BJP Leader Subramanian Swamy on Friday moved a bill to protect the cow and impose stricter punishments against the cow slaughter including the death penalty.

The upper house had witnessed a decent debate with all parties have agreed that cow is a sacred animal and slaughter of the cow must be banned. Congress party has said that we were the first state to ban the killing of cows.

Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said that "the government was working to protect the cow and the center would bring a bill in this regard".

Finally, Swamy has withdrawn the bill and said that he would once again bring a new bill if the government doesn't protect the cow.
