UP Govt to scrap 1000 British Era laws

Lucknow Jan 31: The Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to follow the union government . The Yogi Government has decided to scrap 1000 British Era laws which are not relevant to the state. Sources said that a bill in this regard would be tabled in the upcoming budget session.

UP law minister Brijesh Pathak said that "many such laws have lost relevance in the wake of new legal provisions enacted over the years.All such laws are being scrutinized for being repealed in one go ."

The list compiled by the law department includes "The United Province Act, 1890", enacted by the British Governor-General-in-Council on October 16, 1890, for better administration of the North-Western Provinces and Oudh.



Earlier the Central government had scrapped nearly 1400 laws in past 3-3.5 years and has identified 1,800 obsolete laws and the remaining laws would be scrapped soon.
