Amit Shah an ex-jailbird nominated another jailbird: CM Siddaramaiah

The war of words between Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah intensfied on Friday with the Congress leader calling the latter an 'ex-jailbird'. In his stinging tweet, Siddaramaiah hit back at Amit Shah for accusing him of corruption. Assembly elections in Karnataka are due later this year.

Responding to Amit Shah's "Siddaramaiah means corruption and corruption means Siddaramaiah" remark, the Karnataka CM said, "Says an ex-jail bird who chose another former jail bird to be his party's CM candidate for our Karnataka election. Can he present facts about the so called corruption charges against me or my Govt? Just telling lies won't help. People will not believe his #jumlas".

In his tweet, Siddaramaiah not only targeted Amit Shah but also took a dig at former BJP CM BS Yeddyurappa, who was jailed in an illegal land allotment case. Yeddyurappa was, however, acquitted in 2016.
