Etela Rajender meets Jaitley,seeks support for farmer welfare schemes

NewDelhi Jan 18: Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajender and Agricultural Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy have met Union Finance minister Arun Jaitley in Delhi on Wednesday.

The state ministers have sought the central government to ensure that sufficient cash remains in the banks by may 2018 when the state government would launch new farmer initiatives.

The government has said that "It would handover RS 8000 per farmer in form of cheques which would be given as a subsidy for the purchase of fertilizers." The government feels that if sufficient cash is not available in banks then the scheme would be a failure.

Union Minister has responded positively and said that he would direct RBI to ensure that sufficient currency exists in banks. Recently the state has witnessed a currency crunch during the festival and many ATMs and banks went dry due to non-availability of cash.
