Cock Fights in full swing

Eastgodavari AP Jan 17: The Sankranthi Festival Season in the Andhra Pradesh has been celebrated grandly and many people have actively participated in the 3-day Pongal celebrations.

Sources said that many people have voluntarily conducted Cockfights this seasons in spite of directions issued by Supreme Court. Many organizers have held the fights by tying knifes to the cocks. There are reports that the fights took place even in the night in presence of floodlights.

Police have tried to stop the fights but failed as the local Public representatives have supported the organizers and many Crores of money was exchanged and a huge betting took place.

Organizers didn't care the warning given by police and said that "it is a tradition which should be protected and rearing of cock gives them income and this helps in protection of the breed".

However, police have arrested some people and recovered money.
