Mobile App to be launched for instant power connection

NewDelhi Jan 12: In a move to ensure that all unelectrified Houses get electricity the central government may soon launch Mobile App to provide on-the-spot electricity connections to 4 crore families under Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya scheme).

Power Secretary A K Bhalla in a report submitted to Niti Aayog has said that "the app will allow officials to register and complete the documentation of unelectrified households in dedicated camps organized near their homes."

In September 2017 union government has launched the Saubhagya scheme to provide electricity connections to 4 crore households by March 31, 2019.

The report states that the government will have a focused approach to achieve its target under the scheme because 90 percent of unelectrified households are in seven states — Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

The Report has also stated that 80 percent of the task was concentrated in about 200 districts – Uttar Pradesh (65), Bihar (33), Madhya Pradesh (30), Odisha (20), Jharkhand (19), Assam (15), Rajasthan (8) and Telangana (3).
