TMC: Will oppose Aadhaar linking and expose its problems

New Delhi, Jan 09: TMC is firm about its decision of opposing Aadhaar linking to various schemes. The Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress said that it will continue to fight and expose all Aadhaar card related problems. TMC has been opposing to government's move of linking Aadhaar to phone number, bank etc callimg it a breach of privacy.

TMC said that linking phone number to Aadhaar will end the privacy of an individual and the government doesn't have the right to interfere in individual's privacy.

In a statement, TMC MP Derek O'Brien said that his party would be persistent in its protest against Aadhaar card.

"From notices in Parliament to questions in Question Hour and Mamata Banerjee's public declarations, the Trinamool Congress has exposed Aadhaar card problems. We won't stop. The All India Trinamool Congress have fought war on Aadhaar beyond just tweeting about it -- early, consistent, persistent. In Parliament and outside it," he said.
